An inattentive Lee often leaves Rachel in the dark on things, most notably when he and Elle go as Ghostbusters for Halloween, something he forgot to mention to his girlfriend. And he wastes so much time being fixated on controlling Elle that he doesn't take the time to forge a proper bond with his own girlfriend, Rachel. Being a bad boyfriend goes a long way to prove just how neglectful and emotionally manipulative Lee can be. This ends up being a major hangup, with Lee not being able to understand people like his brother can evolve. He doesn't care if the distance is hurting them - he just wants her to fulfill their childhood dreams of going to Berkley together in California. And to top it all of, he gets upset when, later on, she wants the option of a Boston university to be closer to Noah. Lee even tries to fight Noah, thinking his brother harmed Elle when she's vocal about how she fell in the garage. He doesn't want her dating Noah and doesn't care when he sees they genuinely love each other. Everyone evolves and acknowledges their mistakes through the first two films, but Lee's first flaw is that he tries to control Elle.
